North U13B Hurling Champions
Huge congratulations to our under 13 hurlers who overcame Borris-Ileigh on a scoreline of 3-7 to 1-10 to be crowned North champions following a tremendous North final clash in Moneygall on Saturday last.
In what proved a very tight battle Silvermines were forced to dig deep to overcome a determined Borris-Ileigh side. With 15 minutes to go it was all square, 1-10 to 2-7, but the ‘Mines found the back of the Borris net’ in the final quarter to secure a memorable win for the boys.
Well done to the players, management and mentors for all their efforts throughout what has been a very successful year for our U13 hurlers.
U15 A Hurling
Silvermines lost out by 4-20 to 1-8 to a strong Newport side in Ballina on Thursday evening last in the North U-15 hurling league quarter-final. Hard luck to all involved and best of luck to Newport in the North semi-final.

Well done to our U-17 hurlers who defeated Nenagh Eire Og in the preliminary North quarter final on Monday evening last in Kilcolman on a scoreline of 2-20 to 2-18. U-19 A Hurling
Hard luck to our U-19 hurlers who lost out to Borris-Ileigh on a scoreline of 1-24 to 1-18 in the North semi-final on Wednesday evening last in Borris-Ileigh.
Silvermines trailed by 0-12 to 1-11 at the interval but despite Ronan Cunneen keeping the scoreboard ticking for the ‘Mines in the second half and a late Daniel McKelvey goal Borris- Ileigh proved that little bit too strong. Best of luck to Borris-Ileigh in the North final.
Senior Camogie
Well done to our senior camogie side who had a tremendous victory over Cashel in Cashel in round two of the county championship on Sunday. Silvermines came away with a hard-earned and fully deserved 0-14 to 0-12 victory following a tight contest. Silvermines led by a solitary point at the break, 0-9 to 0-8 and put in a fine second half display with points from Maeve Cunneen, Ashling Carey and Ellen Cunneen ensuring Silvermines came away with full points.
Club Fundraiser
Silvermines GAA Club in conjunction with Silvermines Camogie, Handball and LGFA are in the process of organising ‘Silvermines Goes to the Movies’ a joint fundraiser in aid of the club development and the completion of the sports hall in Dolla. This promises to be a fantastic event and will culminate in a ‘Movie Night’ on Saturday 8th of November in the Abbey Court Hotel.
As part of the fundraising efforts for our new sports hall eight brave men and women on behalf of the Juvenile Club are going to undertake a skydive on September 6th next. Diarmuid Brennan, William Keogh, Damien Boland, Declan O’Meara, Orrie Quirke, Sarah Kennedy, David Shanahan and Marie Thérése Ryan are going to undertake a skydive to help the club reach its target.
We are calling on everyone in the community to get behind this amazing effort and donate what you can to a Go Fund Me page set up to fundraise for the event.
All support will be greatly appreciated and people can donate online at https://gofund.me/f8397bde
